You have 3 days to meet & greet your match. The match notification email will have the exact meet & greet deadline.

During this 3-day period, you may check out your match’s social media profiles and contact them via the contact information provided in the email.

You will be automatically booked onto the cruise with your match at the end of the 3-day period unless one of you passes on your match (keep reading). You do not need to notify Joey to proceed with the booking.

🤔 What to Keep in Mind

You’re looking for a roommate, not a best friend or boyfriend.

Focus on sleep preferences, logistics around sharing the bathroom, when it’s okay to bring people back to the cabin, etc.

While it’s great if you both have similar hobbies and interests, these should not be dealbreakers. Don’t veto someone because they hate Taylor Swift but you love her (maybe just be careful what music you play in the room).

Don’t judge a book by its cover.

A person’s looks has no bearing on whether they’ll be a good roommate or not. Be aware of your biases and make sure they don’t unfairly affect your judgement.

You don’t HAVE to hang out with each other.

There are thousands of cruisers onboard you can hang out with and one of the best things about a gay cruise is that you get to socialize with new people and make new friends.

Don’t expect your roommate to hang out with you all the time, and by the same token, don’t feel obligated to have to hang out with them either, especially as you start meeting new people onboard. If you both want to hang out together, that’s awesome, but just don’t expect it - it just doesn’t happen like that for everyone.

🙈 Passing On a Match

You can pass on your match if you truly don’t think you and your match would be compatible roommates.

You can pass a maximum of two times, meaning you can pass on two separate matches.

You are not guaranteed to get another match. If you pass on a match, you might not get another one.

Notify Joey before the meet & greet deadline by replying to the match notification email. You cannot pass after the meet & greet deadline.

Provide a good reason. Your decision will be honored regardless of the reason you provide, but providing a good reason is important as it affects your subsequent matches (or lack thereof) - see below.

What happens if you pass on your first match

I’ll try to match you again. The reason you provided for passing on your first match will be taken into consideration.

What happens if you pass on your second match

After passing on two separate matches, one of two things may happen:

You may be automatically booked onto the cruise with a third match. You may not be notified that you have been matched, you might not get a meet & greet option, and you might not know who your match is until after the booking is placed.

You are ejected from the CabinMatch program and will not be eligible to re-enroll.

The reasons you provide for your passes will be taken into account when determining which of the above will happen.
